Canon Canada Inc., Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, announced a new Canadian endorsement contract with platinum-selling, Juno Award winning and Grammy nominated recording artist Avril Lavigne. The agreement will see Lavigne featured in a series of advertisements and promotional materials for Canon Canada, including two television commercials that will debut on various Canadian television stations. The two commercials will promote Canon's Rebel line of DSLR cameras and ELPH line of compact point-and-shoot cameras. In addition, Lavigne will be promoting the full range of products from Canon's consumer imaging line in the future months.

Canon and Lavigne made the announcement as part of a press launch event in Toronto on Monday. The event featured the Canadian debut of the two television commercials and the launch of a new Canon microsite at shootlikeastar.ca, where fans have an opportunity to upload their own photos and personalize them with various images and accessories from the commercials, including tiaras, feathery boas, and balloons. The site also features a new online promotion in which visitors can enter for a chance to win an EOS Canon Rebel DSLR camera or PowerShot Digital ELPH camera.
