Ricardo Tisci caused something of a stir in the fashion world when he was appointed creative director of Givenchy in 2005. John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Julien MacDonald had all previously held the post and found it notoriously challenging.

The Italian Central St Martins graduate has taken it in his stride however and injected a previously unseen edge into the couture house that has propelled it into the wardrobes of the coolest fashion editors and A-listers.

The label's signature style is dark, brooding and gothic with romantic undertones. This season Tisci has also brought a touch of sci-fi into the mix, seen in his alligator skin corsetry and the 'Fifth Element' style banding
